Yona Lee

Draught

February — March, 2026

Fine Arts, Sydney is presenting an exhibition of new work by Yona Lee.

Yona Lee makes sculptures that combine structures of stainless steel tubing with everyday materials of urban and domestic spaces.

Two new unique sculptures feature here. Within the steel compositions, one of these sculptures is freestanding and features elements including a fully-functioning draught beer tap, cup dispenser, metro handle, bus seat, and lamp, and the other is wall-mounted and includes a spot lamp. In these instances viewers and visitors are invited to make use of the functional elements within the sculpture, where they may wish to pour a beer, sit, and view the sculpture.

Yona Lee’s work has recently been the subject of solo museum exhibitions and commissions at Art Sonje Center, Seoul, South Korea; Christchurch Art Gallery, Christchurch, New Zealand; Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia; Auckland Art Gallery, New Zealand; City Gallery, Wellington, New Zealand; Dunedin Public Art Gallery, New Zealand; and in curated exhibitions at Buxton Contemporary, Melbourne, Australia; Atelier Hermes, Seoul, South Korea; and Govett-Brewster Art Gallery, New Plymouth, New Zealand. Her work has featured in large-scale thematic exhibitions including the Busan Biennale 2020, South Korea; 15th Lyon Biennale of Contemporary Art, France; and 2016 Changwon Sculpture Biennale. Yona Lee is a current studio artist of the Artspace Studio Programme, Sydney, Australia.

Yona Lee lives and works between Sydney, Australia; Auckland, New Zealand; and Seoul, South Korea. This is her fifth solo exhibition with Fine Arts, Sydney.
