Seven Painters / The Eighties was an exhibition of seven artists working in the medium of abstract painting, each represented by 3 then-new works: Stephen Bambury, Gretchen Albrecht, Max Gimblett, James Ross, Richard Killeen, Ian Scott and Melvyn Williams. The exhibition toured five institutions in New Zealand in 1982—1983: Sergeant Gallery, Robert McDougall Art Gallery, Dunedin Public Art Gallery, National Art Gallery and Auckland City Art Gallery.
