Art of the Eighties and Seventies
Michael Stevenson uncovers a previously forgotten history from the 1970–80s by following a city, its museum director, an architect and a collector—on the occasion of a show at Municipal Museum Abteiberg, in Mönchengladbach. The marketisation of museums, the growing power of private collections and the almost forgotten roots of postmodernism are observed, in this retrospective account, as key moments in the scenario.
This artist’s book, disguised as a coffee table volume (even the logo isn’t Revolver’s usual cylinder), comprises, amongst various documents, an interview with Hans Hollein and Johannes Cladders, and an essay by David Craig.
